– Jennifer Lawrence Is Not “Too Big” to Play Katniss (via usakeh)
“if critics are going to pick on a 21-year-old woman for not being skinny enough for a fantasy film, why haven’t they been more consistent in their critiques of actors’ bodies? I haven’t seen much concern about Liam Hemsworth’s...

feminist historian: You know what really pisses me... →
feministhistorian:
People who say you cannot like X thing in media and be a feminist. I swear to god if I get one more question that states “Do you know Disney is sexist” or see someone I follow get a similar question I am going to fucking scream. All fucking forms of media are sexist. There are very few things in…
Agreed. While I could care less about The Little Mermaid or Taylor Swift,...

Belliatus & Sinistra: It's gotten to the point... →
holybat:
I hate this term.
People try to put it out as a “positive” and pro-feminism ting, but it’s pure BULLSHIT.
Male characters come in all kinds of personality, and they all have about the same chances of being loved by the audience; the strong, the weak, the non brilliant, the geniuses, the popular,…

loneberry:
Qiu Jin wore masculine attire before the Qing Dynasty and system of imperial rule fell (in other words, during a time when traditional Confucian values about women’s proper place were still dominant). She made war with the emperor and was beheaded. She’s touted as China’s first feminist…but perhaps we could even say she’s proto-genderqueer? I snagged this photo from the wonderful...

Ooh, I want to do this challenge. →
It’s a year long reading challenge of feminist books. I’m tempted to break my book buy ban to get some of these :D
heretheedaisiesguardyou:
I dislike the fact that reading modern books, particularly modern book series, is considered not as credible as reading ‘classics’. I mean, I like classic books too, and I like things that have been written more recently, but it doesn’t make it not a ‘proper book’ if it wasn’t written 100 years ago. It’s just snobbery.
